About The ParkWhen Imagineers were tasked with creating an all new theme park to accompany Disneyland Park on the theme park stage, the blue sky wheel immediately began to turn. Over in Orlando, Walt Disney World's second gate, EPCOT, found substantial success with it's World's Fair and Around the World themes. Originally, the plan was to create something very similar in Anaheim, called WESTCOT. However, Michael Eisner wanted something different... something unique. So, Imagineers went to work to find a way to make the park stand out which still use some ideas from the original concepts of WESTCOT.

Then, head of the WESTCOT project Tony Baxter thought of the idea of using the theme of time. So, in 1991, the Walt Disney Company announced their expansion of Disneyland into the Disneyland Resort with the all new WESTCOT vision leading the reimagining of the property.
WESTCOT is split into seven themed areas, all themed to different eras or time periods in Earth's history. Centered around the 250 foot tall park icon, The Globe of Time, these areas invite guests to take an adventure through time like never seen before.
While Imagineers were tempted to stick close to the original WESTCOT plans, they then realized that taking a huge risk would pay off in the long run. Therefore, they thought outside of the box to create a theme that has never been seen before.
